This session will explore some of areas you should consider when preparing talks and resources for global and diverse audiences.
Making your material more culturally inclusive can help how information is accessed, understood and actioned, and it helps to convey respect for your audience. This, in turn, enhances its usefulness and assists any future translation.
The talk will be followed by a panel discussion with international speaker Raffaella Isidori.
The panel will explore why subtitling is relevant today and why we need to focus on creating subtitles for videos on WordPress.tv. Panellists will talk about improving access for users with disabilities, the changing nature of devices, and online learning styles. They will explain how subtitles can assist listeners’ access in other countries and assist with translating video and learning materials into another language.
The panel will be led by Abha Thakor and include Siobhan Cunningham from Yoast, who lead on the subtitling video campaign on WordPress.org Marketing, and Ahmed Khalifa, a WordCamp organizer and WordPress SEO Consultant.
