WORDPRESS TRANSLATION DAY 4
11 May 2019: a 24-hour, round-the-clock, digital and physical global marathon dedicated to the localization of the WordPress platform and ecosystem, a structure that powers, today, more than one third of all existing websites.
Come and join one of the teams behind WordPress, the open source online platform which powers 33% of all websites. The Polyglots Team has a mission to translate and make available the software’s features into as many languages as possible. WordPress Translation Day, a global 24-hour event, will celebrate the thousands of volunteers who contribute to translation and internationalization.
The fourth edition of WordPress Translation Day will run from 00:00 UTC until 23:59 UTC on 11 May 2019. During that time, there will be a number of local, physical meetings in countries across the world and online talks from members of the extensive WordPress family. This innovative mix of the physical and the digital forms a 24-hour marathon to translate and localize aspects of the open source software, its processes and resources.
Mentoring support and broadcasts of live and pre-recorded tutorials covering translation issues will also be available during the day. One of the benefits of WordPress Translation Day is to train and support individuals to learn and practise translation skills in a real life environment, which has the added benefit of developing an open source tool.
The event is an opportunity to encourage more people to get involved and make even more themes and plugins available in different languages. At the time of the last event in 2017, WordPress was being translated into 178 languages, we have now reached the 200 mark!
There is still time to sign-up and organize or take part in the local Meetups or just get a few friends together and have your own translation day event.
Previous WordPress Translation Days have attracted the combined participation of more than 700 members of the global WordPress community. Translation Day is now firmly fixed as the signature event of the WordPress Community’s Polyglots Team. This team is a large cluster of international volunteers drawn from the amazing WordPress Community, which exists to continually develop the offer and reach of this worldwide open source project.
WORDPRESS TRANSLATION DAY 4 IS A BOTH A DIGITAL AND A PHYSICAL EVENT.
