The French WordPress community has come together to put on a half-day, mini-WordPress Translation event on Friday 17 April 2020.
Many WordCamps have been cancelled or postponed due to the current public health emergency. This includes WordCamp Paris 2020 planned for this Friday. The online only, translation event is planned for the same day. It will be a first for the French Polyglots community.
The plan for the event
It will start at 11am UTC and last half a day. If you can’t join at that time, don’t worry, you can join in later. There will be a short introduction by the locale managers. You can choose from the available WordPress extensions or themes the ones you would like to translate into French.
You can register for free on the French-language WordPress page for the event. It will use the video-conferencing software Zoom to connect translators. Join the Slack instance for WordPress FR and then its WPTranslationDay channel. Details of how to do this are on the link above.

Help share Online WordPress Meetup events
With restrictions on movement, many WordPress Meetups are switching their in-person events to become online sessions.
If your Meetup is setting up an online presence, do encourage them to use the #OnlineWPMeetup in their listing and social media. This helps potential attendees find events. It also assists the Make WordPress Marketing Team in supporting Meetups and to highlight how WordPress contributors are working together.
